Our Story

A Reunion Between Three Friends

LIGURE Started With Three Friends In Portofino

The birth of LIGURE timepieces started in Primavera on a terrace in the harbor of Portofino. It embodies the friendship, passion, and commitment of three individuals, each with a desire to turn back time itself to an era where quality, affordability, originality, and a zest for life were commonplace. Fair, without cutting corners.

The Creative Founders Of LIGURE

The story of Ligure Watches began back in the early '90s as three friends embarked on an enduring friendship that's as strong and as steadfast today as it was then. As is so often the case in life, they lost touch for a few years but although separated, their work, their travel, their experience of life and their passion were silently laying the foundation, one small piece at a time that would, many years later, become Ligure Watches.

Design & Principles

It was down to Jannieke to produce her magic and although she hadn't designed a watch before, neither was she shackled by the conventional ideas of established watch designers.A fresh look from the outside on existing designs can be illuminating. It gave her enormous freedom in thinking and creativity. It is not subject to the limitations of common sense or market standards.

The grounding principles of Ligure are quite ambitious: recognizable and own cushion shape 41mm Tartaruga case, the best materials without compromising on quality, and also very important: affordability. Meaning: more value, for less money. We have very consciously chosen one type of Tartaruga case, in the same size for all variations. The base of our case is slightly larger than the dial and the bezel for the best wearing comfort.

More Than A Time Piece

Ligure textured the inside of the strap like a car's rain tire. This allows moisture to drain and further increases wearing comfort. The rubber strap utilizes the same clasp as the metal bracelet, and both come with quick-release pins. Next to this silver dial, does Ligure also offer the Tartaruga with a blue, black or green dial

Both with matching ceramic bezel inserts. While in a way,  the Ligure is a rather traditional, almost old-school, divers watch, it excels in the way that it delivers its qualities. Since its birth in 2020, Jannieke, Pieter and Loek have worked to ensure that every single building block is perfectly placed in order to create a company that not only lives up to their dream but surpasses it in every way.

The Very Essence
of Ligure

It's true that the design of a Ligure timepiece embodies the friendship, passion and commitment of three individuals, each with a desire to turn back time itself to an era where quality, affordability, originality and a zest for life were commonplace. It's also true that it evokes thoughts and memories of an incredibly beautiful region of Northern Italy from which Ligure takes its name; an area that is synonymous with the very spirit of adventure. Often referred to as the 'Italian Riviera', the region benefits from more than 300 days of sunshine during the year and is known for its colourfully painted villages, excellent food & wine, rock climbing, yachting, beaches and warm, clear waters.

IL TEMPO É GALANTUOMO

Time is a Gentlemen

Widely used in Italy and it is difficult to translate because it is a way of life. Time is like a gentleman; it heals, has patience and is based on the positive and good. Everything always works out in the end. We are attracted to this phrase, it is a way of thinking that appeals to us.
